OBL at the Labour Party and Conservative Party conferences 2024

05 September 2024

Open Banking Limited (OBL) will be attending Labour Party and Conservative Party Conferences this year to highlight how open banking is driving financial innovation, bringing wide-ranging benefits to consumers and SMEs, and acting as the foundation and a catalyst for a smart data economy.

As well as hosting panels on ‘Open Banking to Open Energy: Unlocking the digital economy’ at both conferences, we will be asking both parties to support the swift passage of the Digital Information and Smart Data (DISD) Bill through Parliament.

This Bill, which has cross-party support, is vital to unlocking economic and societal benefits from the expansion of open banking, the UK’s first smart data scheme, in key sectors such as energy, finance, home-buying, retail, telecoms and transport. It will also help deliver productivity gains, financial inclusion, and reduce the cost of living for our citizens and small businesses.

Event details

These sessions will explore how we can replicate and leverage the success of open banking as we move towards open finance and other smart data schemes – and how we bring their benefits into fruition in other sectors, including energy.
